About Parent Navel Orange Tree

Propagated from trees imported from Bahia, Brazil in 1870 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this tree was sent to Luther and Eliza Tibbets of Riverside for experimental planting in 1873 and began California’s Washington navel orange industry and Riverside’s citriculture boom. It was transplanted to this site in 1902.
