This Craftsman style home was built in 1909 for R.D. Brough, a local orchardist, at a cost of $4000. It was purchased by Harry W. & Myrte Hammond in 1912. Mr. Hammond was principal owner of the Riverside Daily Press and its successor, The Riverside Press-Enterprise, for 49 years. For 35 of those years he was the newspaper’s business manager, garnering respect for his sound business judgment and uncompromising positions on newspaper policy.
