As America’s 250th birthday draws near, May invites us to pause, remember, and reflect. This month, Riverside is home to several landmark events honoring the Americans whose service and sacrifice shaped our nation.Â
Begin the Story at the Mission Inn Foundation Gallery
Now open, Riverside: An All-American City is an exhibit that traces our community’s role in the great American story through historical artifacts, photographs, and cultural displays. Held at the Mission Inn Foundation Gallery from May 1 to August 3, 2026, the exhibit celebrates the city’s heritage and contributions in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Memorial Day: Opportunities to Remember
On Saturday, May 23 at 8:00 am, join volunteers for the A Flag For Every Hero ceremony and flag placement event at the Riverside National Cemetery.Â
Also on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 am, gather at Evergreen Memorial Historic Cemetery for a Memorial Day Ceremony beneath the oaks, where many of Riverside’s earliest patriots, including many who served in the Civil War, are laid to rest.Â
On Sunday, May 24 at 11:00 am gather at the Orange Terrace Community Center for a free event honoring our fallen military members.
On Memorial Day morning—Monday, May 25 at 8:00am— as many as 7,500 motorcycle riders roll out from Riverside Harley-Davidson to the Riverside National Cemetery for the West Coast Thunder Memorial Day Ride. Watch this thunderous tribute to those who gave all in service to our country from anywhere along the route from Indiana and Arlington Avenues, up Alessandro Boulevard to Van Buren Boulevard.
